2019 Court Terms



Note: The term "Distress" refers to the constitutionally required date that the case must be decided. "MFR Distress" refers to the constitutionally required date that all motions for reconsideration must be decided. Once a case is docketed to a specific term, the Georgia Constitution requires the Court to decide the case before the end of the next term of court.

Summary: Cases docketed to the Winter/December 2019 Term (begins Dec 3, 2018) must be decided by July 2, 2019.
Cases docketed to the April 2019 Term must be decided by November 1, 2019.
Cases docketed to the August 2019 Term must be decided by March 16, 2020.

Note: Distress Date For Cases Docketed to the August 2018 Term is March 15, 2019 (Mar 16 is a Saturday). MFR Distress is March 29, 2019 (Mar 31 is Sunday).

DECEMBER/WINTER TERM (Begins Dec 3, 2018)
Distress Date For Cases Docketed to the Dec/Winter 2019 Term is July 2, 2019.
MFR Distress is July 17, 2019.

APRIL TERM (Begins April 1, 2019)
Distress Date For Cases Docketed to the April Term is November 1, 2019 (Nov 3 is Sunday).
MFR Distress is November 18, 2019.

AUGUST TERM (Begins August 5, 2019)
Distress Date For Cases Docketed to the August Term is March 16, 2020.
MFR Distress is March 31, 2020.

Note: No oral arguments in March, July & November
