Judge Trea Pipkin was appointed as the 91st judge of the Court of Appeals of Georgia on April 10, 2020 by Governor Brian Kemp.  He was elected state-wide in 2022. Prior to his appointment, Judge Pipkin served as a Superior Court Judge for the Flint Judicial Circuit, which includes all of Henry County. He was appointed to his seat in January of 2018 by Governor Nathan Deal. During his service on the Superior Court, Judge Pipkin worked to create Henry County’s first-ever Veteran’s Court, which was quickly recognized as a successful addition to Flint Judicial Circuit accountability courts.

Judge Pipkin, a Henry County native, obtained his Associates Degree in Business Administration from Reinhardt College, his Bachelor’s Degree in Risk Management from the University of Georgia, and his Law Degree from Georgia State University.

Judge Pipkin served for seven years as an Assistant District Attorney for the Flint Judicial Circuit, where he prosecuted numerous felony cases. In the summer of 2012, Judge Pipkin began serving as Solicitor-General of Henry County after being appointed to that post to fill the vacancy left by his predecessor. He was reelected Solicitor-General in 2014. While Solicitor-General, Judge Pipkin was elected by his peers to serve on the Executive Council for the Solicitors-General Association of Georgia. And he was elected by the District Attorneys and Solicitors-General of this State to serve as Vice-Chair of the Prosecuting Attorney’s Council, which assist with the training and legislative agendas for prosecutors in Georgia.

Over his legal career, Judge Pipkin has been an adjunct faculty member, teaching criminal law courses for Gordon State College, Mercer University and for the Emory University School of Law. He has served on the Haven House Board of Directors and on the Speedway Children’s Charity Board of Directors at Atlanta Motor Speedway; he is a member of the State Bar of Georgia, the Henry County Bar Association, and a former Rotarian. Judge Pipkin is a member of the Reinhardt University Board of Trustees.

In 2010, Judge Pipkin was named one of the top 5 under 40 Rising Stars in the south metro area by H Magazine, and in 2012 he was recognized as one of the top 14 under 40 in the State of Georgia by Southern Journal Magazine.

Judge Pipkin is an active member of his community where he volunteers his time to many charitable organizations.
