Memorial for Jan Kelley, Director of Fiscal Services

COURT OF APPEALS OF GEORGIA

A MEMORIAL RESOLUTION

Recognizing the Legacy of Jan Range Kelley

WHEREAS, Jan Range Kelley, Chief Fiscal Officer of the Court of Appeals of the State of Georgia, passed away on Monday, November 9, 2020, the Court honors her memory as follows:

Jan’s services were integral to the Court’s operations, as she steered the fiscal office through good times and bad. She began working for the Court on July 12, 1999, after two years of serving the State in other positions. She was the first person to meet most new judges and employees as she ushered them into service. During her more than twenty years with the Court, Jan served with thirteen Chief Judges, thirty-seven Judges, three Clerk/Court Administrators, two IT Directors and countless staff.

Jan ensured that the Court had the resources to grow from nine to twelve Judges, and again when it grew from twelve to fifteen Judges. She oversaw the fiscal office’s migration of multiple accounting systems from paper to digital, and was never too busy to talk through anyone’s problems. Jan was invaluable in managing the seamless movements of judges and staff to and from the Equitable Building and within the Judicial and Health Buildings, and most recently, of the entire Court staff into the Nathan Deal Judicial Center.

Jan spent countless hours over the years in her faithful service to the Court and will be long remembered for her numerous contributions.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Court of Appeals of the State of Georgia hereby recognizes the life and legacy of Jan Range Kelley.
