New Chief Judge to be Sworn In

Atlanta, June 11, 2019– Christopher J. McFadden will be sworn in by Presiding Judge Sara Doyle as the Court of Appeals’ new Chief Judge on Tuesday, June 25. Carla Wong McMillian will also be sworn in as the new Vice Chief. Both officials were elected by their peers to serve a two-year term.

The investiture will take place at 10:30 a.m. in the Court of Appeals courtroom.

The Chief Judge of the Court of Appeals is responsible for the administration of the Court and serves as the Court’s spokesperson. The Vice Chief Judge serves in the Chief Judge’s absence, and undertakes a variety of duties at the court.

The court’s outgoing Chief Judge, Stephen Louis A. Dillard, said, “It has truly been an honor to serve my colleagues, the Court of Appeals, and our state as chief judge. I look forward to continuing my service on the Court as a presiding judge, and assisting our new chief judge and vice chief in any way that I can. Judge McFadden and Judge McMillian are dedicated jurists and dear friends, and I am confident that they will lead the Court with distinction over the next two years.”
